Finasteride in Canada: Avoiding Name Brands

Finasteride, as discussed in our article on the science of hair loss prevention, has been shown to prevent hair loss in up to 90% of people. It is one of two scientifically backed hair loss treatments. In Canada finasteride requires a prescription, typically your GP or dermatologist will provide you with this prescription if requested. Doctors normally prescribe the name brand product, Propecia. This is often expensive, ranging between $50 and $100/month and rarely covered by health insurance. Is there anyway to reduce the cost? A generic finasteride is available from most pharmacies, but you'll still be paying upwards of $50/month. A trick to save even more and possibly have your health insurance cover your prescription is to request Proscar....

How To Treat Hair Loss: The Scientific Method

Sure, you can buy the oils, tinctures, potions and topicals that claim to help you avoid hair loss. But what actually works? Here we separate the snake oil from the good stuff based on science. We provide you with a method to do everything you can to keep your hair. Their exist two clinically proven ways to prevent hair lost: finasteride and minoxidil. Oh Canada: Where To Buy Rogaine Minoxidil In Canada?

Unfortunately for Canadians, its not easy finding stores that consistently stock Rogaine. We know, we use the product ourselves, and drove from drug store to drug store each time we ran out. Although large drug stores may carry one or two Rogaine products, they rarely carry the entire line and none of them carry generic Kirkland minoxidil products. The other problem we found was prices in drug stores are exhorbatant. After using minoxidil products for a while, we got smart and found online stores to order from, but often times we'd end up spending what we saved in shipping, duties and customs charges, and waiting weeks for our package to show up. Thats why we created Hair Supply. You can...

Buying Kirkland Minoxidil Foam and Liquid In Canada

Is there a generic Rogaine? Indeed. Costco Wholesale USA produces a generic Rogaine product under their Kirkland label. They produce both a 6 month supply of 5% liquid minoxidil and 5% foam. Unfortunately, these products are unavailable in Costco stores within Canada, and Costco USA will not ship these products outside the United States. What are the benefits of the generic? Namely, price. The Kirkland products contain the exact same active ingredient (minoxidil) in the exact same quantity, but without the Johnson & Johnson brand name. You can decide for yourself whether the brand name is worth it for you, for us, we have used the Kirkland brand for years with great results. Hair Supply solves a problem we had...

Women's vs. Men's Minoxidil Dosage - Clearing Up the Confusion

Minoxidil products, whether they be foam or liquid, are accompanied by a supply indication which can cause some confusion. Men's Rogaine foam is sold in a 3 month supply which includes 3 60 gram cans. However, Women's Rogaine foam is sold in a 4 month supply version that includes 2 60 gram cans. The reason for this is women's Rogaine foam is to be applied once per day as recommended by the manufacturer, whereas men's Rogaine foam is to be applied twice per day. We hope to clarify the confusion with the table below. Although we have not included generic minoxidil products, they follow the same dosage guidelines for both foam and liquid.   Product            ...
